Description:
Instructor will host a classroom portion identify all Navigational aids. Student will demonstrate the ability to utilize Nav-Aids and Auto Pilot while leading a Flight consisting of the Student and the Flight Instructor.
Task:
Instructor hosts a Ground School no longer then 30-40 minutes on Nav-Aids.
Instructor will cover how to Interpret the F10 map and the use of the tool bar.
-This will include but not limited to, discussion of the ruler tool, location of the Coordinates and elevation and how to change their value’s.
-Instructor will show the deference of the margin of error when cycling between precise and non-precise coordinates.
b. Instructor will demonstrate the functionality of the HSI and the UFC.
-Instructor will Address the following: HSI, DATA page, SEQ UFC, SEQ, WYPT input, Precise WYPT, TCN, CRS, Mark Point, WPDSG, A/A WP, ADF and ILS.
Students will create a Flight Plan.
With the Student in the cockpit, the Instructor will identify multiple points on the F10 map and create a flight plan while observing the Student as they input it into the HSI DATA page.
-Instructor should ensure that the following WYPT’s are created: General LAT/LONG, Precise LAT/LONG, MGRS and a Mark Point.
-Instructor will have Student Sequence the created WYPT’s and discuss the pros and cons of SEQ.
Student will execute the flight plan with the instructor in formation for observation
While on the wing of the Student, the Instructor will make corrections as necessary.
Students will utilize the Auto-Pilot Features of the Aircraft.
After the student passes the first waypoint, the instructor will introduce the auto-pilot features.
-Instructor will cover HDG HSEL, BALT, RALT, ATC
-Instructor will address the hazard of enabling HDG HOLD in a formation.
-Instructor will then discuss CPL Mode and the pros and cons of its use.
-Instructor will discuss how to make turns with the HDG toggle switch.
Student will then implement Auto Pilot for the remainder of the flight.
On the Final Waypoint Student will use WPDSG.
Student will select the last WYPT and designate it so that an example and
relation can be made to how this is implemented for practical use. 4.
Student will utilize ADF to reach an Airfield.
Student Completes Lesson after landing.
Standard:
Student must attend classroom portion. Student must demonstrate the functionality of the HSI and the UFC. Student must create a Flight Plan. Student must execute Flight Plan. Student must utilize the Auto-Pilot. Student must use ADF to reach a destination.
